Progress has unveiled a significant update to its AI-powered Flowmon platform, introducing up to tenfold acceleration in search capabilities for faster cyberthreat hunting and network troubleshooting. The first major enhancement in this series is IP Address Indexing, which is set to revolutionize the Flowmon AI-powered Network Detection and Response & Network Visibility offerings.
The latest release of Progress® Flowmon® brings a host of improvements aimed at enhancing network observability. With AI-powered detection for cyberthreats and anomalies, the platform now offers faster access to actionable insights, boosting network and application performance across hybrid cloud ecosystems. The introduction of innovative IP address indexing significantly enhances IP search efficiency, allowing network administrators to swiftly track activities tied to specific IP addresses. This advancement results in a substantial reduction in the time required for data analysis and troubleshooting, thereby providing robust protection for optimal network performance.
Sundar Subramanian, EVP and General Manager of Infrastructure Management at Progress, emphasized the importance of this development: “For many IT teams, retrospective analysis while hunting for threats amidst growing volumes of telemetry data can be time-consuming, especially in large and complex networks. The new solution offers near-immediate answers to retrospective analysis of compromise indicators, such as identifying whether anyone from the network communicated with malicious IPs in the past month. This enhancement propels IP search queries to new heights, achieving up to a tenfold increase in speed. Network administrators and cybersecurity professionals can now rapidly identify network activities associated with specific IP addresses, significantly reducing the time required for thorough data analysis and effective troubleshooting. Additionally, the IP Address Indexing is designed to scale alongside network growth, ensuring sustained search efficiency regardless of the expanding number of IP addresses.
Other notable features include enhanced usability and streamlined workflows. Flowmon now sets IP Conversation as the standard selection for the most important statistics, delivering instant insights into network interactions. The Analysis chart has been updated to allow selective switching of network performance monitoring metrics for a more customized and relevant view of data. The Monitoring Center, along with the Dashboards and Reports, has been improved with new application information icons for external IP addresses and now prominently highlights denied IP addresses from Flowmon ADS blacklists.
Furthermore, Flowmon introduces flexible event reporting with Syslog messages over the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). This enhancement ensures targeted and reliable event reporting to designated IP addresses, accelerating data processing and issue identification.
