INSIDER THREAT DEFENSE GROUP (ITDG)
Next Generation Insider Risk Management Program Training & Consulting Services
What Is Behind The ITDG Name?
July 31, 2025: West Palm Beach, Florida — In 2014, the CEO of the ITDG (Mr. Jim Henderson) had a vision. The vision was to create Insider Risk Management (IRM) Program Training and Consulting Services that provided our clients with a 360 degree holistic approach to IRM. This approach would be real world, practical and cover IRM from a strategic, operational and tactical perspective.
This approach would also involve gathering and sharing knowledge with other security and IRM practitioners to create an IRM Essential Body Of Knowledge (EBK).
So in 2014, Mr. Henderson created the National Insider Threat Special Interest Group (NITSIG). The NITSIG was created to function as a National Insider Threat Information Sharing & Analysis Center (ISAC). As of 2025, the NITSIG is the largest network (1000+) of IRM professionals in the U.S. and globally.
The IRM EBK used in ITDG training courses and consulting services was developed with the assistance of NITSIG members starting in 2014. Since 2014, NITSIG advisory board members and the NITSIG membership have been instrumental in enhancing the EBK. This extensive collaboration, peer review and crowdsourcing of the EBK, has resulted in an EBK that is real world focused vs. theoretical and academic in nature.
The NITSG membership is comprised of a cross section of Insider Risk Program Managers, Insider Threat Program (ITP) Senior Officials and other security professionals who work for the: U.S. Government, Department of Defense, Intellectual Community Agencies, Defense Contractors, Critical Infrastructure, Banking / Financial Industry, Health Care Industry, Universities, Fortune 100 / 500 companies and a variety of other large and small businesses. (Join The NITSIG – Its Is Free)
The NITSIG is also the only IRM ISAC that produces comprehensive and eye opening monthly Insider Threat Incidents Reports that provide clear and indisputable evidence of how very costly (MILLIONS To BILLIONS) and damaging Insider Threat incidents can be to organizations of all types and sizes. In some cases companies have also had large layoffs or gone out of business because of the malicious actions of JUST 1 EMPLOYEE.
These reports are recognized and used by Insider Risk Program Managers and security professionals working for major corporations, as an educational tool to gain support from CEO’s, C-Suite, key stakeholders and supervisors for an IRM Program. These reports will provide the justification, return on investment and the funding that is needed for an program.

Foundations Of Security Needed For An Insider Risk Management Program (IRMP)

This course was taught to 100 NSA Security Professionals (Information Systems Security Managers / Officers (ISSM / ISSO), the DOD, Navy, National Nuclear Security Administration, Department of Energy National Labs, and to many other organizations. Parts of this training were incorporated into the IRMP training and consulting Services offered by the ITDG.
